Martial Arts is a great activity for kids! It’s a fun and exciting way to get exercise,
increase balance & coordination, and learn discipline & structure.
Our new Little Lions program offers all of that and more! We incorporate
traditional values into our curriculum—values such as respect, compassion,
diligence, and even grace!
The Little Lions program offers 45 minute classes twice a week for ages 5-9.
Classes cover taekwondo techniques, board breaks, forms, staff, self-defense, and
character development.
Although students are welcome to remain in the program as long as they wish,
there is a belt system that allows for a sense of accomplishment and
development. Belts are earned at each child’s own pace, so while they provide
valuable incentive and milestones for accomplishment, students are under no
pressure to test or attain these milestones at a regimented pace.
While this program is awesome as a stand-alone activity, it also gives younger kids
who want to participate in our Become a Black Belt program an opportunity to
enter that program early—before they are 10 years old—or to gain valuable
training in advance. This can be especially helpful for children with special needs
or who simply need extra time to develop coordination, balance, or confidence
before entering the full Black Belt program.
Once a student earns a Black Stripe Belt in the Little Lions program, he/she is
eligible for an accelerated version of our White Belt curriculum, after which
he/she may participate in a color belt testing event and earn a Yellow Belt, thus
entering our Become a Black Belt program as a Yellow Belt! There is no
requirement to do so, however, and another option is to simply remain in the
Little Lions program as a senior level student.
